The Bodybuilding South Africa Hall of Fame Committee will consider nominees for the Hall of Fame in the following categories:
Athlete Nominee Qualifications
Sport Contributor Nominee Qualifications
NOMINATION PROCEDURE
All nominations will be reviewed and decided upon by the Hall of Fame Committee. Each qualified nominee’s application will be considered for up to five years, and there is no limit on how many times an individual can be nominated. It is up to the discretion of the Hall of Fame Committee to decide how many nominees will be inducted in any given year.
A nomination is NOT a vote for election. The Hall of Fame’s Selection Process includes multiple steps in which the nominees are scrutinized. The Hall facilitates the procedure of three successive reviews of increasing scrutiny with the Selection Committee.
The first is a vote to reduce the long list of Nominees to 18 Semi-finalists, followed by a later vote to reduce to 9 Finalists.
At the annual meeting, the Finalists are scrutinized even further by the Selectors, who after a thorough discussion of each Finalist, reduce the list from 9 to 5.
At that point, the five remaining Finalists are voted on for election into the Bodybuilding Hall of Fame on a yes-or-no basis. A minimum positive vote of 80% is necessary for election.
CONCLUSION
The aim of the Hall of Fame is not to award merit or create competition but to recognise positive and meaningful contribution to the Sport as a whole.
